And a lot of you said you still miss my old life updates posts. I thought everyone just spent all day on Instagram and listening to podcasts – but maybe that’s just me… or maybe you do some of that but also want more blog posts!

Also… at first Instagram crowded out the blog because it just seemed so much easier to post my running and eating over there. but now IG is super fancy and you can only post perfect pics and styled food photos or the president of IG builds a firewall to keep you out of his app. (This has not been confirmed by any reliable sources.)

My point is… I used to post more running and eating in ‘real time’ on social media so it was kinda like the old RER for a minute. but yeah… I’ve gotten away from that too so I need to track all those things here! (Which is the reason I started this site in the first place! full circle!! Boom.)

So… I’m going to set a goal of posting X times a week for the rest of the year. I don’t know what the x is yet… I’m going to figure out a realistic schedule and let you know by Monday.

Even though I’ll be posting more here…

I’ll still post daily check-ins on Instagram! It’s great place to connect with other runners and eaters in real time – so please follow @RunEatRepeat on IG and chime in with your updates in the comments, make friends, get inspired, motivate others and support the cause!

Let’s talk running and eating!

It was national Popcorn Day yesterday! Did you celebrate? Popcorn is one of my top 10 favorite foods.

My IT band and/or piriformis area has been super tight. So, I’ve been trying to foam roll, stretch and roll with a tennis ball or a softball a few times a week.

Those recovery efforts in combination with running less as I try to train Diego (and he tries to train me) has helped it feel a little better. but it’s definitely not completely gone – so I have to keep it up!

Foam Rolling Notes:

This is the foam roller I have.

This is the bumpy foam roller I have that I’m using in the picture above. sometimes the colors represent different densities so check that when buying one. You don’t want to get a foam roller just because of the color – choose based on the size / shape / density / etc.

For my butt / hamstrings – I’ve been using a softball lately.  I think a softball helps a lot more than a tennis ball because it’s bigger and harder.

I tried the Trader Joe’s Rainbow wrap the other day. I definitely got it because of the super colorful wrap outside! and I’m trying to get myself to like eating beets. but I ended up picking them out of this…

I think this is the funniest thing I saw on IG this week:

I did some meal prep! because I’m responsible and such.

I baked chicken and sweet potatoes. and I made a batch of overnight oats for the next morning. meal prep can be easy and fast!

Holiday of the Day:

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

And on a less important but food related level…

it’s also national Granola Bar Day and national Clam Chowder Day.
I like saying CHOW-DAAA… the way I imagine someone with a Boston accent to say it. now that’ going to be in my head all day!

Hľadáte ľahké raňajky na bielkoviny? Vyskúšajte tento recept na čedar Frittata s hubom 5-prúžok! Je to skvelá možnosť raňajok alebo brunch a môžete si to urobiť vopred pre prípravu jedla. Urobil som to na raňajky a naplánoval som ho na jeho časť na stredne týždne, ale nakoniec som mal kúsok na večeru!

S týmto jedlom by fungovalo rôzne strúhané syry, ale veľmi odporúčam používať extra ostrý syr čedar vyrobený zo skutočného kalifornského mlieka. Ešte lepšie je, urobte to s ostrým čedarom a mnohými ďalšími ostrými syrmi!

Kedysi som siahol po najľahšom a najnižšom syre kalórií, kedykoľvek som uvaril, ale ako som vytvoril viac syrových dosiek, experimentov s rôznymi odrodami syra a vytvorenými rôznymi druhmi jedál – zistil som, že ostré čedar a vajcia sú vynikajúcou kombináciou ! Navyše, tým ostrejší (alebo niekedy štipľavý) syr je – čím viac chutí získate, dokonca aj s menšou porciou.

Pri varení alebo pečení so syrom – vyskúšajte tvrdé odrody, ako je suchý konektor alebo starý čedar. Vedeli ste, že Kalifornia je druhým najväčším producentom syra? Pozrite sa na skutočnú webovú stránku Kalifornského mlieka, kde nájdete podrobnosti o rôznych syroch a ich príchutiach a najlepšie použitie tu: typ syrov.

5 ingrediencií recept na čedar a huby frittata

Ingrediencie:

1 šálka nasekaných húb

1 šálka nasekaný špenát

1/2 šálky skutočného kalifornského mlieka Sharp Cheddar (skartované)

6 vajec

1/3 šálky skutočného kalifornského mlieka

soľ a korenie (podľa chuti)

Voliteľné: pažítka

Pokyny:

Predhrievacia rúra na 350 stupňov. Noste okrúhlu pekáčku so skutočným kalifornským maslom alebo obľúbeným olejom s nelížkom.

Porazte vajcia, mlieko, soľ a korenie. Pridajte špenát a huby, kombinujte.

Nalejte vaječnú zmes do namazanej pečenie. Top so syrom.

Pečieme 20 až 25 minút alebo dovtedy, kým nie je nastavená Frittata.

Vrch s nasekanou pažítkou (voliteľné).

Užite si to!

Zostaňte zvyšky v chladničke (ak to nebudete jesť celý deň na raňajky a potom večeru!).

Kalifornia je zdrojom kvalitných, udržateľných mliečnych potravín. Pri nákupe potravín pre svoju rodinu nezabudnite hľadať skutočnú kalifornskú mliečnu pečať.

Confession #1: I am hogging all the eggs in our house! I cannot get enough of them lately and Ben loves them too, but he keeps getting yogurt for breakfast. To je divné…

Confession #2: I skipped my run because I was supposed to try out a new boot camp this morning and didn’t want to be too tired (and look like a loser).

A lady at the boot camp asked if I had just ran that half marathon (referencing my shirt). To me the Arizona RnR half was a year ago, so I said “yes, last year”. She pointed out that the shirt said 2011 and I looked like I didn’t know what year it is. I kinda don’t.

After the boot camp my Catholic guilt caught up with me and I ran/walked 3 miles when I got home. I do feel better now

Confession #3: I am pretty sure the persimmons I’ve been eating all week are not even close to being ripe.

Confession #4: I’ve been eating those fried onion things for green bean casserole like chips. I am not positive on this one, but I’m pretty sure that’s the most unhealthy thing one can consume.

Confession #5: I’m almost out of gas from my soda Stream!!! I have been drinking seltzer like it’s water

Confession #6: Oddly, there are always raisins on the floor of my car. This may be caused by my favorite driving snack…

Confession #7: . Kim tweeted that auto correct changed #POTM to #PORN and now I’m trying to thing of a good #PORN challenge for January. Twitter amuses me more than blogs sometimes

Confession #8: Ben and I are taking a last minute trip to San Francisco this weekend, but I really don’t want to go. between October being the craziest month of my life, last weekend’s wedding / half mary and the holidays I just want to stay home and watch house Hunters for 9 hours while eating fried onions from a can.

After the market I stopped in TJ’s for lunch. brown Rice California rolls help satisfy a sushi craving (for now).

Then, I headed to my mom’s to humiliate my dogs.

At least I took off the costumes to take them for a walk.

 I threw together some quick pizzas for dinner before my fun project…

The reason I was there was to make a Gingerbread house with my little brother. I gotten this kit at Trader Joe’s this week.

It is incredibly easy to use and put together! All you need to add is one egg white and a few drops of vinegar. (We added a lot of other candy because it doesn’t come with that much.)

It has a little family too! But, I don’t really get who the lady with the cane is meant to be?

I set it up and Matt and I got to work decorating.

A piece of our tree was missing. I tried to convince Matt a branch fell off in the storm, but he wasn’t getting it.

I blame Bailey.

I grabbed a glass of milk and was ready to eat this thing!

The first thing I wondered when I gotten this kit was, “Are you really able to eat it though?!” Áno! I say if there is nutrition information on the back they figure you’re going to eat it.

But, my mommy made white chocolate macadamia nut cookies for us instead. I’m not a big fan of this kind of cookie, but they were warm out of the oven and I couldn’t stop myself from eating 5 of them, plus eggnog and some ice cream(!).

The cookies, coupled with the tree branch candy decorations left me feeling excessively full and bloated. I felt like ish for a second then realized so lots of other bloggers have been in similar circumstances this season – not that it makes it okay, but it makes it normal.

It’s not like there is something wrong with me for eating too lots of cookies. This is the time of year with a ton of temptations – and I need a game plan before I go into it or this happens to me. lots of people over eat at a holiday party or when freshly baked cookies are around. The crucial is to realize it’s normal and get back on the healthy balance wagon the next day (NOT fall into a binge until Dec 31st like I’ve done in years past).

If you’ve had issues with food in the past you might think overeating at a party equals a relapse or a binge or a step backwards. This isn’t necessarily true. When I was seeing R.D. Tribole (and author of the Intuitive eating book) she pointed out that people with no history of food issues overeat on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not that it’s healthy, but that it’s normal. (She also said no one eats ice cream because they’re hungry, which kinda changed my life.)

Co si myslis? Is it “acceptable” to overeat at a party or while baking cookies? how do you keep yourself from overeating while baking or at a party?

Myslím si, že si ľudia mnohokrát uvedomujú, že jedlo, ktoré jedia, nie je zdravá voľba, ale nevedia, ako alebo kde získať dobrú ochutnávku zdravého jedla. Rýchle občerstvenie je tiež rýchle – čo je jeden z dôvodov, prečo by to bola prvá voľba niekoho.

Ben hovorí, že keď sa snaží byť zdravý, dostane šalát od Wendyho. Tiež je známe, že si objednáva kurací šalátový sendvič z Arbyho myslenia „šalát“ v názve znamená, že je zdravý. Hm, nie.

One windy Run

This morning I was expected to do a 6 miler with 4 tempo miles. But, the wind was crazy! I kept my head down so my visor wouldn’t fly off as well as just did what I could.
